Goodwill Hunting

My Rhode Island buddy, Alice, recently came to town so I decided to take her out for a day of thrifting. When we walked up the stoop of my favorite vintage warehouse, Udelco, we noticed a sign that read 'Closed Till August 14th'. Of course Alice and I were thoroughly bummed but my fellow New Jersey Tomato, Sammy, instantly thought of a Plan B. Goodwill! Now, before this trip, I had never been to a Goodwill before and was expecting it to be full of chewed up and tossed around dingy underwear and old Mickey Mouse Overalls. Although I did spot a few pairs of undies and mickey ears, the store was top notch! The orderly aisles were filled with new Abercrombie Jeans (with tags!), Ann Taylor dresses, and even an Anna Sui top! I was completely astounded when I entered the dressing room with two armfuls of clothes! Here is what I bought:

To quench my purse craving!

Besso Jelly Bag, $7, originally $200

BCBG bag, $14, originally about $300

Dolce Vita heels, $12, originally about $160

American Eagle Crop Top and Shorts, both $6
You will surely see these in outfit posts to come!

Although I spent my day getting two cavities filled (blergg), I wanted to look nice! Wearing: Skirt from Loehmann's and top from Old Navy (I've had this top since elementary school!)

Not only are there clothes at Goodwill, but also knick knacks, toys, and household supplies. I found a Zebra bead spread for my sister's dorm room (silly girl wants to make her dorm an african safari. she already has the monkey garbage can) but sadly it was a king size :( C'est la vie, I guess she will have to settle for giraffe!

What have you guys gotten from Goodwill? Any good finds?

I love the Goodwill. For me there are the pricier of thrift stores in my neck of the woods. But still great finds. My favorite so far are these rare limited edition Etnies Plus wedges, brand spanking new, so cute and comfy, fits me like a glove. Research showed that they are a skater brand and make mostly dude's skate shoes, but one year, back in 2007 they created a line of ultra cute girl wedges. My pair is the ultimate thrift store score.

Those bags are both great! I think goodwill can be very hit or miss depending on where the store is located! I have a very good one by my parents house and a not so good one by mine!
